Based in Houston, Gary Adams is chief advisor at IHS Chemical, where he provides insight, strategic direction, and operational oversight for the chemical information, consulting and services sector of IHS.
Adams brings more than 35 years of experience in the global petrochemical and plastics industries to IHS, having previously served as president of Chemical Market Associates Inc. (CMAI), which was acquired by IHS in 2011. Gary joined CMAI in 1990 as director of the Monomers Market Advisory Service, concentrating his consulting practice in the light olefins and polyolefins markets.
Steve is a graduate of the University of Kentucky where he earned BS and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering. Steve’s prior experience includes twenty-three years with the BFGoodrich/GEON Company, followed by two years with Molten Metal Technology. Steve brings an intimate knowledge of chlor-alkali and vinyls technology and markets. While employed with BFG/GEON, Steve was responsible for the commercial and purchasing issues associated with chlorine and HCl, and natural gas purchases and supply arrangements, which included purchasing and joint venture negotiations.

Charles “Chuck” Carr is service leader for the North America Light Olefins Market Advisory Service at IHS Chemical, where he focuses primarily on olefins and the analysis of the propylene and propylene derivatives markets for IHS clients.
He also manages the global propylene market intelligence studies for the company and contributes regular commentary on these markets for other IHS Chemical reports. In addition, Carr contributes propylene analysis to the World Light Olefins Analysis, an annual study also published by IHS.

Peter Feng is director of Styrenics at IHS Chemical. In 2006, Peter joined Chemical Market Associates, Inc. (CMAI, now IHS) as director of Styrenics, where he maintains responsibility for the analysis and reporting of global styrenics and its derivatives. He plays an active role in the daily, weekly and monthly aromatic market advisory reports. Peter contributes to multiple annual analyses to include the IHS Chemical World Styrene Analysis, and the IHS World Polystyrene and Expandable Polystyrene Analysis.

Russell Heinen is a senior director at IHS Chemical, where he is responsible for the Chemical Technology and Analytics organization. Heinen has worked in energy and chemical consulting for more than 30 years and has extensive experience in technology evaluation, market analysis and consulting. Prior to joining IHS, Russell was vice president of Technology and Consulting for SRI Consulting, which was acquired by IHS in 2010.
William “Bill” D. Hyde directs the olefins and elastomers market advisory services for IHS Chemical. In that capacity, he is responsible for the company’s global practice covering the world’s olefins and synthetic rubber markets, including feedstock and derivatives. His primary focus has been in the areas of C4 olefins and derivates, including the analysis of the butadiene, butylenes and synthetic rubber markets for hundreds of global clients.
Dewey Johnson is the senior director of market research at IHS Chemical, where he is responsible for the company’s market research services, which provide global insight and research covering five primary value chains consisting of aromatics and fibers, olefins and derivatives, inorganics (chlor-alkali, vinyls, and soda ash), plastics and polymers, and syn-gas chemicals (acetyls and methanol).

Jeffrey S. Plotkin, Ph.D., a noted author, speaker, researcher, patent holder and instructor on chemicals, technology and markets, has joined IHS Chemical as vice president, training and education. Most recently, Plotkin was vice president at Nexant, Inc., a provider of intelligent grid software and clean energy solutions, where he developed and led public training courses focusing on the global petrochemical industry.
