Jeffrey S. Plotkin, Ph.D., a noted author, speaker, researcher, patent holder and instructor on chemicals, technology and markets, has joined IHS Chemical as vice president, training and education. Most recently, Plotkin was vice president at Nexant, Inc., a provider of intelligent grid software and clean energy solutions, where he developed and led public training courses focusing on the global petrochemical industry.
A frequent author and writer, Jeff is co-author of the recently published textbook entitled, “Industrial Organic Chemicals,” which was published by Wiley-Interscience in 2012 (third edition.), and was also co-author of a book entitled, “The Chemical Industry at the Millenium,” published in 2000 by the Chemical Heritage Foundation.
Currently, Plotkin is contributing editor of “Patent Watch,’ for the American Chemical Society’s website, and has more than 25 academic publications to his credit in peer-reviewed journals. He holds 30 U.S. patents and numerous foreign patents, and is frequent speaker at petrochemical conferences on how technology advances impact business and strategic planning.
Plotkin earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the State University of New York at Oneonta; a doctorate in organometallic chemistry, and an MBA from Pace University. He was a postdoctoral fellow at The Ohio State University.
