ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), the leading global source of information and analytics, announced today that it has acquired BDW Automotive GmbH, a leader in the development of information and planning systems and intelligent processing of vehicle databases for the automotive industry, for approximately $8 million.
“This acquisition significantly expands our capabilities in the automotive dealer and aftermarket data and systems market,” said IHS Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jerre Stead. “The company’s historical market and pricing data, forecasting software and detailed regional registration data is an excellent complement to our IHS Automotive products and services.”
As a specialized service provider to the automotive industry, BDW Automotive supports leading manufacturers, suppliers, service providers and financial companies worldwide in the development of new sales potential, the optimization of production capacities, and the reorganization of sales networks through state-of-the-art information technology systems, forecasting and consulting services. The company helps customers recognize global trends, plan products and define and manage sales areas with critical information and planning systems. BDW Automotive customers can evaluate multiple sources of information and data in one integrated system that can be customized for selective access to databases, analytical components and reports for each individual user.
