IHS will now offer critical Chinese macroeconomic and industry information to non-Chinese markets worldwide
ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), a leading global source of critical information and insight, today announced a strategic partnership with China Monitor, Inc., to be the exclusive distributor of all of China Monitor's analyses and products. China Monitor has an exclusive license with the China Economic Information Network (CEInet) to translate, edit and adapt all of CEInet's products for delivery outside of China through IHS.
The exclusive partnership with China Monitor gives IHS access to the most complete, authoritative and up-to-date collection of information on China's economy and industries that is available from any source. It also positions IHS as the leader in delivering critical Chinese macroeconomic and industry information to businesses and governments around the world.
CEInet was founded in 1996 by the State Information Center (SIC) of China, which continues to own most of the company. The SIC is an influential part of the Chinese government's National Development and Reform Commission, which is China's top economic authority and planner.
“CEInet has a powerful capability to support decision-making for governments at all levels, along with financial markets, businesses, academic communities and international investors,” said IHS Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jerre Stead. “By partnering with China Monitor to be the exclusive distributor of CEInet’s macroeconomic and industry information, IHS is able to provide access to economic forecasts, statistical databases, industrial analytics and models to help global customers make critical decisions about their business dealings in China, along with the impact of China on the rest of the world.”
CEInet collects and aggregates a wide spectrum of information received through the SIC data network, one of China's largest data networks. This network is also linked to many other Chinese government ministries. CEInet performs its analyses based on the data and insights received through these sources, largely serving customers in China in the Chinese language.
China Monitor will translate, transform and adapt CEInet's analytical products as appropriate for various markets, with IHS having exclusive marketing, sales and distribution rights in both written and electronic forms. Dr. Joseph E. Kasputys, the founder and chairman of IHS Global Insight, is chairman and CEO of China Monitor.
“This is a very significant partnership for IHS,” Stead added. “It increases the breadth and depth of our existing offerings, and allows us to develop new products and services to better support our customers’ critical decision-making needs in one of the world’s most important markets.”
