IHS (NYSE: IHS), the leading global source of information and analysis, announced today that Gartner has published a new research report that includes IHS as one of four information technology providers that deliver solutions to address business challenges associated with sustainability management.
The report, titled Sustainability Innovation Key Initiative Overview, and authored by Stephen Stokes, a research vice president in Gartner’s Supply Chain Leaders group, looks at how sustainability has expanded to drive the development of critical new platforms for IT as well as the transformation and growth of organizations.
“We are pleased that Gartner has recognized our ability to meet surging market demand for information technology solutions that support enterprise sustainability management (ESM) strategies,” said IHS Vice President EHS & Sustainability Woody Ritchey. “Industry leaders are selecting IHS solutions because they want to take a broader and deeper approach to managing both compliance — with regulations, standards and corporate policies—and sustainability performance across their organizations in order to achieve their business goals.”
IHS has implemented an aggressive strategy to establish its leadership position as a global provider of innovative solutions in the growing ESM market space. The company has invested more than $300 million over the past 5 years to provide customers with a full spectrum of solutions that combine enterprise-level software with rich information content and deep industry expertise.
Gartner observes that organizations are adopting more sustainable business models that focus on holistic corporate performance, efficiency and business value, as well as enhancing or protecting brands through increased transparency and investment in social capital. This shifts organizations away from the traditional compliance model of internally facing corporate responsibility, which is a cost, toward strategic sustainability that delivers competitive advantage, profit, and in some cases, new business models; enhances compliance; and improves operational efficiency and performance.
The report goes on to say that, before developing the foundation needed to achieve sustainability, and embarking on the journey toward sustainability, business leaders and CIOs must consider the following points:
“We are honored to be listed in this group of four sustainable conglomerates. We’ve been providing information and analysis for environmental, health, safety (EHS) and sustainability management for more than 20 years. Our recent acquisitions continue to build our capabilities to provide the most comprehensive sustainability solutions in the market,” added Ritchey.
IHS offers comprehensive EHS and sustainability information management solutions to address a variety of ESM challenges including environmental management, greenhouse gas emissions and energy management, product stewardship, operational risk management, health and safety management and corporate responsibility.
