"IHS has invested hundreds of millions of dollars to bring together world-class software, content and expertise so we can help industry leaders develop and implement unified information strategies for Enterprise Sustainability Management."

IHS (NYSE: IHS), the leading global source of information and analytics, announced today that it is the recipient of a 2012 Environmental Business Journal (EBJ) Business Achievement Award.  A prior multiple EBJ award winner, IHS has been recognized this year for recent mergers and acquisitions that strengthened its solution offerings and market position.

“We are honored to be recognized by EBJ for making acquisitions that enable us to offer our customers the broadest, deepest set of information management solutions in our market space,” said IHS Vice President of EHS and Sustainability Solutions Scott Lockhart. “IHS has invested hundreds of millions of dollars to bring together world-class software, content and expertise so we can help industry leaders develop and implement unified information strategies for Enterprise Sustainability Management.”

“We are pleased to spotlight IHS as one of 50 EBJ Business Achievement Award recipients that have achieved growth and innovation in an industry that is out-performing the overall economy but still presents challenges in many segments,” said Grant Ferrier, president of Environmental Business International Inc. (EBI, San Diego), publisher of Environmental Business Journal.

Environmental Business Journal’s judges recognized IHS for two recent acquisitions:

  • CyberRegs® - IHS acquired this business from Citation Technologies in order to make its online source of current, full-text regulatory compliance information part of the IHS EHS&S solution set. Combining CyberRegs content with IHS enterprise-level software and domain expertise helps customers meet their compliance and sustainability goals in the areas of environmental, health and safety, operational risk, product stewardship, energy and carbon, and corporate responsibility.

  • XēDAR Corporation –  IHS also acquired this leading provider of technology-driven geospatial and land information solutions to federal, state and local agencies, as well as key oil and gas, natural resource and utility clients. Legacy XēDAR’s proprietary imagery processing solutions as well as its geographic and land information management services are a great complement to IHS energy technical information and analytical tools.

Environmental Business Journal® (EBJ), a business research publication which provides strategic business intelligence to the environmental industry, has honored 50 companies for revenue growth, acquisitions, innovative project designs, technology applications, new practice areas, social contributions and industry leadership in 2012. The 2012 EBJ awards will be presented at a special ceremony at the Environmental Industry Summit XI in Coronado, Calif. on March 6-8, 2013.
