"The IHS solution will support Kemira’s effort to build a library of risk management data, which will allow our management team to view risk enterprise-wide and enable our facilities to share best practices and lessons learned..."

IHS (NYSE: IHS), the leading global source of information and analysis, announced today that Kemira Oyj (NASDAQ OMX: KRA1V), a leading water chemistry company, has chosen IHS to provide its system of record for operational risk management. Kemira Oyj will use IHS Stature™ software to standardize its risk management process, enabling the company to systematically manage risk and ensure the safety and security of its chemical plants around the world.

“A growing number of organizations are recognizing the importance of having a robust operational risk solution as part of a broader enterprise sustainability management strategy,” said IHS Vice President, EHS & Sustainability Woody Ritchey. “We provide a full spectrum of information solutions – including software, content and services – to help our customers address these challenges and we are proud that Kemira Oyj has selected IHS to support its global risk management program.”

Headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, Kemira Oyj has approximately 100 production and storage sites in nearly 40 countries and needed an information system that would centralize its risk management data. Kemira Oyj selected IHS Stature in order to maintain an easily accessible database and view its risk reporting across all of its process hazard analyses (PHA) conducted in different locations. By using a standard enterprise-wide solution, Kemira will be able to easily access its process risk assessments and more efficiently share them across departments and sites, resulting in a quicker, more responsive business process.

“The IHS solution will support Kemira’s effort to build a library of risk management data, which will allow our management team to view risk enterprise-wide and enable our facilities to share best practices and lessons learned,” said Kemira Oyj Process Safety Manager Pieter Jan Bots. “Having a single system for risk management will transform our risk assessments from stand-alone documents into Web-based documents that help to provide us with predictive analytics and allow us to better manage risk and ensure the safety and security of our people and processes.”

IHS will provide Kemira Oyj with the necessary tools to make better decisions when mitigating and preventing process risk. The IHS software is designed to accommodate organizations with either simple or intensive risk assessment requirements. Its Web-based availability allows teams to work collaboratively from a centralized database. With access to data from all risk assessments, extensive knowledge libraries and standardized templates, the IHS solution will help Kemira Oyj save time while ensuring corporate consistency across all past, present and future risk studies.

“Chemical plants are not only under supervision by regulatory bodies but also public scrutiny to ensure the safe operation of their facilities,” said Uwe Schneider, regional director - EMEA, IHS. “Kemira Oyj will streamline its risk management process through the use of IHS Stature to proactively mitigate process risk and provide customers with a safer way of doing business.”
