"iNEMI reviews the anticipated needs of the global electronics industry, identifies gaps that impact business performance, and develops roadmaps to eliminate those gaps through consortium-led collaboration..."

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Industry experts will analyze the current situations and pressures facing global product development and the electronics supply chain during a web conference titled “Product Lifecycle Insights: The Critical Convergence of Compliance, Obsolescence and Reliability” being hosted by IHS Inc., (NYSE: IHS) on June 11, 2008.

This is the first of a three-part series being hosted by IHS that will focus on leading product lifecycle strategies that improve corporate performance and mitigate business disruption. "This event demonstrates the growing importance that insights can play throughout product lifecycles to close critical information gaps and positively impact corporate performance,” said Jonathan Gear, IHS vice president, product lifecycle global products. “We're pleased to host this respected group of industry experts, whose organizations represent significant supply chain experience by virtue of the many global clients they each serve."

Speakers on the webcast will include:

-- Chuck Richardson – Director of Roadmapping, iNEMI
-- Chad Jackson – Research Director, Global Product Innovation & Engineering, Aberdeen Group
-- Glenn Bassett – Vice President, Strategic Business Development, Avnet Electronics Marketing

The speakers will explore a variety of topics that impact global manufacturing including the economy, environmentally conscious product development, counterfeit parts, supply chain disruption, legislative and regulatory concerns such as European Union RoHS and REACH Directives. They will discuss how these matters bring about an increasing need for information to make prudent product lifecycle decisions, and how compliance, obsolescence and reliability issues need to be addressed within product development and engineering strategies.

“iNEMI reviews the anticipated needs of the global electronics industry, identifies gaps that impact business performance, and develops roadmaps to eliminate those gaps through consortium-led collaboration” said iNEMI’s Richardson. “Product Lifecycle Information Management is one of those gaps that our members have formally identified and this is a great opportunity to share the basis of this thinking.”

Jackson of the Aberdeen Group said: “Our fact-based research shows that best-in-class companies are 32 percent more likely to hit product revenue targets and 34 percent more likely to hit product cost targets than industry average performers. We are pleased to participate in a forum that allows us to share strategies that our studies show to have positive impact on business performance.”

“The fact that we serve as a vital link in the technology supply chain provides us a unique point of view on issues that impact global manufacturing.” said Bassett of Avnet Electronics Marketing. “We gladly participate in this discussion to share a perspective that may help strengthen overall value chain performance.”

Over the course of an hour, each speaker will provide a concise, yet insightful look at some of these issues. At the end of the session there will be a Q&A session for the audience to pose questions to the panel.
